A circuit breaker is a safety device designed to interrupt current when a circuit is overloaded or has a fault. Choosing one should never be based only on price or appearance.
Start with the circuit and its load
The correct rating depends on the wiring, the expected load and the circuit design. A breaker that is too large for the wiring may not provide the intended protection.
Use compatible, quality equipment
Check the manufacturer, model compatibility and product specifications. Avoid mixing components in a distribution board unless they are confirmed to be compatible.
Get the installation checked
A qualified electrician should assess the circuit, wiring condition, earthing and local requirements before selecting or replacing protection equipment.
Do not increase a breaker rating just to stop nuisance tripping. Find and fix the underlying cause first.
